Welcome to a new series on my official blog titled “Merry Melodies”! “Merry Melodies” started as a special episodic series on my popular “Laugh About It with Sade Champagne” radio show and multimedia platforms where I highlight dynamic musical artists I am enjoying and want to share with you.
This week we are featuring the gorgeous, inspiring, multifaceted & overcoming Nicolette Vonchelle! One of my mentees, dearest friends and biggest blessings in my entire lifetime. She has been a part of many key moments in my career and life since we first met over a decade ago. Words can barely accurately describe how thrilled I am to feature Nicolette Vonchelle and how proud I am of all the strides she has been making creatively, professionally and personally!

Nicolette Vonchelle is one of the bravest people I have ever met, and when she told me about her new music coming out I was smiling from ear to ear! This has been one of her longtime dreams, and she has had to overcome many obstacles to accomplish this feat. This weekend I finally got a chance to listen to all of her released music, and from the first single "Everest" (released November 21, 2024), my heart was flooding with emotion! Nicolette’s first album "Sola Scriptura" was released on May 31, 2025 and my eyes welled with tears from the very first song!!! Her passion, the anthemic feels throughout the entire record, the musicality, the way she sang so many scriptures and bible verses that it becomes an affirmation/meditation, the risks she takes vocally and creatively- what a solid debut album!!! The instrumentation breaks at the end of most of the songs brings chills and takes the record to new heights. Her husband “Jigg Andrews” is essential to this album and her single releases - what a dynamic duo!!! They work together majestically, and “Sola Scriptura” is a stunning representation of who Nicolette Vonchelle is creatively and personally. The way “Jigg Andrews” weaves everything together for this album is riveting!!! There is nothing that Nicolette Vonchelle can’t create, do, achieve or dream! She is one of the most talented, visionary and gifted people I have ever met. I am forever honored to have played a small part in her miraculous journey. This is one of my favorite photos of us and happiest memories together- my birthday photoshoot June 2020. Nicolette did my makeup and took the photos!
