Laugh About It Comedian of the Week - Kasaun Wilson
Welcome to my new weekly blog series inspired by my popular “Laugh About It with Sade Champagne” radio show and multimedia platforms where I feature a comedian who’s work I enjoy and share how they have brought happiness & healing to my life!
This week we are featuring Kasaun Wilson! Kasaun Wilson is a comedian and writer whose work on THE PROBLEM WITH JON STEWART was recognized in Rolling Stone and nominated for an Emmy and 3 WGA Awards. He has also written for LeVar Burton and Jenifer Lewis. Wilson began his comedy career during his time at Howard University with the urging of his professor, the legendary Al Freeman Jr. Since then, he has appeared on NBC’s LAST COMIC STANDING, TruTV’s LAFF TRACKS, and TVOne’s NewsOneNow with Roland Martin. He’s featured for Jon Stewart, Wanda Sykes, Donnell Rawlings, and Michael Blackson; and performed on stage at The Apollo Theater, The Kennedy Center, the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Festival, and 2024 JFL Vancouver Comedy Festival. He kicked off his "Hello, My Name is Kasaun" stand-up tour this past June! He was on episode 107 of my Laugh About It radio show this past May, and words cannot describe the beautiful energy he brought & how much joy and encouragement I received from Kasaun that I still carry to this day!

I first saw Kasaun Wilson perform live at the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Fest, and he stuck out to me right away!!! His voice, his presence, his storytelling, his cadence and connection with the audience- I became an instant fan. Kasaun is someone who will stick with you and his standup is memorable.
I am going to see him perform live again STAT, and I look forward to seeing everything he is going to write, create, star in, produce and more! The fact that Kasaun is a fan of my Laugh About It radio show, and he knew the segments, intros, and listened to episodes still has me sitting on cloud 9. I am absolutely honored and humbled!!! I was laughing from before the show started until after he left the station. I wanted nothing more than to fully soak in the moment of that day and gratitude flooded my heart. I can see Kasaun having his own radio show one day (if he hasn’t already or isn’t already on the way to). Thank you Kasaun for inspiring me, encouraging me, reminding me of how far what I say and do reaches and bringing abundant joy to my show, audience and supporters! You shine bright no matter what room, set or stage you are on, and your passion and talent are literally seeping from your pores!
